How would the world look – if all were black and white?

The other day I heard someone saying “Not everything is either correct or wrong!”. But I think ‘why shouldn’t it be?’

What if

  • stealing was just stealing. Be it out of necessity or because you can’t bear to see someone enjoying the riches.

  • A murder is looked at as the heinous crime it is. No justifying the fact that the person who was killed was a priest or a pompous prick

  • What if there were no grey area

This was riddling me, when it struck. Maybe writing would get the juices flowing. Or typing which ever you prefer.

Then came to my mind the amount of time that would have been spent by theologians and thinkers of every time and age on numerous debates and on the topic. While I was wasted about an hour thinking about this. Cliché I know.

A sharp debate at my neighbour’s broke my thought. They were aruging over who should be getting what part of their 90 year old mother’s land. It then struck me! A eureka moment, if you will!

If all were so simple then the human part of ‘human being’ would have been for nothing. After all isn’t our unique ability to distinguish black from white and white from grey that have led to the prospers of humankind!

...

Confused? Allow me.

What if a serial murderer was given the death row? It is just; inn’it? But what if we sentenced a poor mother who had no choice but to push away her drunkard of a husband from trashing her & the child. Which led to the husband dying on impact with a wall.

Now this would have left the child alone (not an orphan because everyone no matter who! will find a shared heart at some point) and deprived of a mother who loved it so much she ended up killing her partner.

Heavy hearted it might be! But I just wanted to admire the grey in all of us that helps us make the right decision.

Right by us & right by society.
